1928 – Born in Vienna on December 15th, as Friedrich Stowasser. By 1934, at the tender age of six, Friedrich had produced his first juvenile drawings.
1943 – saw his first deliberate crayon naturalistic drawings. It was also during this year that about 69 Jewish relations on his mother's side were deported and killed during the 2nd World War.
1948 – he achieved his school-leaving certificate & spent three months at the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna, under Prof. Robin Christian Andersen.
1952 – Hundertwasser had his first exhibition at the Art Club of Vienna. This was during a brief flirtation with decorative-abstract.
1953 – saw Hundertwasser paint his first spiral. Also had his second stay in Paris.
1958 – he married in Gibraltar (divorced 1960). Read his Mould Manifesto against Rationalism in Architecture at a congress at Seckau monastery.
1959 – he received the Sanbra Prize at the 5th Sao Paolo Biennial. In the same year also founded the Pintorarium, a universal academy of all creative fields, together with Ernst Fuchs and Arnulf Rainer. As guest lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg, he drew the Endless Line with Bazon Brock and Harald Schult. Resigned lectureship following a scandal.
1960 – Visited Japan. After his divorce from his first wife came through.
1961 – Hundertwasser married Yuko Ikewada.
1966 – following his divorce from his second wife.
1967 – saw Hundertwasser travel to Uganda and the Sudan.
1971 – worked on the Olympia poster for Munich in Lengmoos.
1976 - World touring exhibition: Tel Aviv, Warsaw, Reykjavik, Copenhagen & Dakar. Albertina graphic tour in the USA: Hanover, Brooklyn, Maryland.
1981 (14 February) – saw the speech in Vienna on false art against nuclear energy and negative avantgarde in modern art whilst receiving the Grand Austrian State Prize.
1982 – architecture doctor, redesigned the facade of the Rosenthal Factory of Selb.
1986 (17 February) - the Hundertwasser House was turned over to the tenants; 70,000 visitors visited the Open House.
1991 (9 April) – KunstHausWien opened.
1999 – Hundertwasser lived and worked in New Zealand.
2000 (19 February) – Died in the Pacific, on board the Queen Elizabeth II from a heart attack. According to his wishes he was being buried in harmony with nature on his land in New Zealand, in the Garden of the Happy Deads, under a tulip tree.
