This is the photo of my supervisor Ramilya R. Tichonova. She is a

teacher of English. According to the survey (see Students) English

is one of the most popular subjects among the students of my

class. In our studies we use Longman's 'Opportunities text-books.

They are full of interesting articles and useful information

(for example, Aborigines-the native Australians, Britain today,

the Mystery of Wales, etc.). It is easy to learn new words, expressions

and grammar because a specially developed contrastive approach to

grammar makes language learning more focused and effective.

Opportunities takes language learning seriously. Our English

lessons are interesting and useful.

This is the photo of our teacher of mathematics. His name is Boris V. Kozulin.

He is a very experienced teacher. At the lessons we work hard, and our teacher

understands that from time to time we need a rest.He has a good sense of humor.

He likes to joke, and the students like his jokes very much. Look at him once again.

He is well-fed and red-haired.So, his nickname is 'Orange'. I think he knows

about it. But he does not mind. On the wall near the class of mathematics there is

a wall newspaper called "Orange news". It is full ofhumor, comics and funny stories.

He participates in a television project "Teleschool", which you can see on "NTV+" channel. He organizes the "Orange cup" football (see Events)

and the tick-tack-toe tournaments. He is also the captain of the Teacher's team in Brain Ring game, which is held on the Day of labor

(see Events).

"Then sprang Prince Igor

To his golden stirrup

And rode forth over the open plain'.

Have you ever heard about 'The lay of the warfare waged by Igor'which was written

as long as in 1187 ? This manuscriptis a genuine epic poem enjoying such a long life.

Have you ever heard such names as A. Pushkin, A. Blok, F. Dostoevsky, I. Bunin,

R. Bradbury, Moliere, etc.? Of course, you have heard !

We read the works of great Russian and foreign writers and learn much at our lessons

of literature from our teacher Valentina G. Ugrechelidze. Our lessons are exciting.

Our teacher teachesus to analyze and understand the works of different authors

from different countries better.

This is the photo of our teacher of physics. His name is Vladimir V. Shchekodin.

We like to study physics. At the lessons the teacher gives us unusual tasks and

demonstrates different physical phenomena with the help of various experiments.

For example, 'An egg in the bottle'. If you want to demonstrate how strong the

pressure of the air is, take a hard-boiled egg and a clean milk bottle. Take

off the shell and put the egg on the opening of the bottle. Try to push the

egg into the bottle. The egg will not go in because the air in the bottle cannot

come out. The pressure of the air in the bottle will not allow the egg to go in.

If you throw a burning match into the bottle and put the egg on the opening,

the egg will go in the bottle. Can you explain the phenomenon? I will help you.

The fire uses up the oxygen in the bottle. Then the pressure of the

outer air on the egg pushes it into the bottle.

Look at the blackboard. Is this flower beautiful? It was drawn

by one of our students. Now you can guesswhat lesson we

are having. You are right. This is biology. Our teacher is Julia A.

Sevruk. In theseventh form we study botany. We have already

learned much about the structure of plants useful and

harmful for people. We draw pictures of different flowers, trees,

vegetables, fruits, etc. In thesummer we collected a herbarium.

In my opinion, biology is one of the most interesting subjects.

This is the photo of our teacher of informatics. Her name is Helen G.

Sutotskaya. students of our class like these

lessons because they help us to operate

the computer properly. We learn different programs

and languages. Now we study Basic.

Here is an example of a computer program

of conversion of miles into kilometers in Basic:

20 PRINT "Miles to kilometers"

30 DEF FNKILO(M)=M*1.6093

50 PRINT "Distance in miles?"

60 INPUT D

70 PRINT D; "Miles are equal to";

80 PRINT FNKILO(D);

"kilometers"

90 END

At my gymnasium we study two foreign languages. The

first language is English. All students learn it. The second

languages are French and German. Students can choose

one of them. On the photos you can see the teacher of

French Anna I. Rogova (bottom) and the teacher of German

(right) Taisia G. Spirina.
